The School of Mechanical Engineering and Automation comprises four first-level disciplines: Mechanical Engineering (ME), Electric Engineering (EE), Control Science and Engineering (CSE), Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics (PEET). The School provides degree programs at the master's and doctoral levels in all disciplines. The Mechanical Engineering discipline has started to enroll undergraduate students since 2016, and the other three disciplines will offer degree programs successively at the bachelor's level starting from 2017. The School has 41 faculty members, including 17 professors and 21 associate professors who are committed to teaching and research. Our faculty members are well-known scholars and widely recognized by top national awards and honors. These include three recipients of the Recruitment Program of Global Experts, two for the Thousand Young Talents Program, one for the State Key Talent Project, andone for the Leading Talents of Technology Innovation in the “Million Plan”. The School also has four Distinguished Professors, ten Guest Professors and four Visiting Professors. About 80% of the faculty members have oversea education and research background.


The School has five research centers, five municipal key laboratories, and four municipal engineering laboratories at present. It is now establishing the State Key Laboratory of Robotics and System, Shenzhen. The School has a few theme-based and interdisciplinary research directions, including the Advanced Design and Manufacturing, Optomechatronics, Power Electronic and Power Transmission, Wind Power and Renewable Energy. Intelligent Robotic and Unmanned System, Aerospace Power, Advanced Motion Control, and the Flow Induced Vibration and Control, etc. Its research excellence is nationally recognized. Over the past five years, the number of national research projects continuously grew. More than 50 projects are funded by the National High Technology Research and Development Program (863 Program), National Basic Research Program of China (973 Program), and National Science Foundation of China (NSFC). The annual research funding is over forty million RMB. Our faculty members made significant contributions in cutting-edge research and received prestigious national awards, including one for the National Natural Science Award, one for the National Technology Invention Award, two for the Science Technology Awards in Guangdong, and one for the Natural Science Award in Shenzhen.

With our innovative, dedicated and sophisticated research teams, the School aims to advance our academic reputation and impacts on a world scale to new high every year, and to assist in the economic and social development of Shenzhen.
