Education
School of Mechanical Engineering and Automation has four first-class disciplines in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Control Science and Engineering and Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics which confer master degrees and doctoral degrees. The school admits the first undergraduate in Mechanical in the year of 2016 and in the future the school will admit undergraduate in the other three majors.

University town library of Shenzhen (Shenzhen science & technology library), which serves for Tsinghua university, Peking university and Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen, and is open for Shenzhen civils, is the first library at the service of both universities and public. University town library of Shenzhen constructs the literature resources based on both density library resources and dummy library resources, and have the richest electronic resources in Shenzhen.

HITSZ, Tsinghua University Shenzhen Graduate School and Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School are located in the University Town. The interactions with teachers and students of three schools get increasingly frequent, teachers and students often take part in group activities, friendly gams, celebrity lectures and so on, realize the resource sharing, as well as complement each other.

Shenzhen is contiguous to Hong Kong and Macao, its universities widely carry out the collaborative education and academic exchange activities with University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, City University of Hong Kong, University of Macau. The students are encouraged to implement science technology academic, cultural and sports, public and voluntary activities. The School Day, university town sports festival, sports meet and Hosting competition activities are held annually.


Youth creating guest space, HIT is focus on cultivating the innovation and enterprise competencies of undergraduate graduate students, adopts the new innovative operation with regarding student principal and teacher guidance as assist. The space provides multi-forms themes and patterns for research training, guides students to participate the research program of teachers.

Construction of Course System
The construction of course system always follows the principles that are research, open and international. The school focuses on “Student-Oriented” and advocates teaching innovation and provides flexible curriculum organization type. All the courses for General Course and Specialized Basic Course adopt original English textbooks and are English Teaching or Bilingual Teaching. The specialized courses provide necessary basic theory and knowledge for the student when they carry out their own research work and technological developing work in the future. Following the frontier of technological development, the school offers several courses in intelligent robot technology, aerospace engineering and so on. Also, the students are encouraged to select courses from other majors and arts and humanities to bring up humanistic quality for science students.

Experiment teaching platform
Four discipline teaching laboratories were invested more than 100 million yuan, constructed new domestic first-class high level teaching laboratories, equipped with advanced and rich laboratory equipments,on the basis of the completion of the course teaching experiment,focusing on the construction of innovative design and comprehensive design experiment. The laboratory uses the open management mode to provide sufficient resources for students to carry out extracurricular research, scientific and technological innovation and independent entrepreneurship.

Graduate Cultivating
Graduate enrollment is divided into academic research and professional application. In the training system, academic research focuses on deep theoretical knowledge and scientific research ability training, professional application focuses on the training of ability to solve practical problems and technical innovation ability. In the process of research, using the combination of school-enterprise co-cultivation and training with foreign universities to carry out personalized management, individualized. In the past, 20% of the graduate students completed the thesis in English, and completed the defense in English. In nearly five years, graduate students published a total of more than 100 papers; apply for more than 20 patents during the school. 

Quality of Dissertation
Graduate dissertation take the whole tracking training mode and the blind trial system, the opening, middle and defense all aspects are strictly control the quality, the tutor group check the total workload before defense; dissertation in accordance with HIT’s specifications, unified requirements, unified norms; the chairman of the defense committee is appointed by the well-known professors outside the school and strict control of the quality of dissertations.

Graduate
It's been the 15th anniversary of Harbin Institute of Technology(Shenzhen).
As one of the schools of HITSZ, Mechanical Engineering and Automation has cultivated more than two thousand graduate students since it was established, over half of whom choose to work in South China and eastern coastal areas, especially in Shenzhen and the Pearl River Delta region. Our school has transported a large number of high-level engineers and technical talents to the society. Overall, basically we realize the employment rate of 100% that covers kinds of employment forms such as work, further education, study abroad and self-employment. 

Our graduates mostly work in high-tech enterprises such as Huawei, Emerson, ZTE, Mindray Biotech and so on. Quite a few graduates engage themselves in scientific research and education mainly in research institutes and institutions of higher education that are affiliated with Chinese Academy of Sciences, Aviation Industry Corporation of China, China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, State Grid Corporation of China. Graduates that accept further education choose universities statistically  including  Harbin Institute of Technology, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong University Science & Technology, National University of Singapore, Case Western Reserve University, Michigan State University, University of Auckland and so on. Some graduates start their own technology companies by making full use of accumulated research experience and achievements as well as support policies of Shenzhen about innovation and entrepreneurship. So far, there has been 6 technology companies. All of those companies have our graduates in their start-up teams and have achieved good performance.
